Today we were out doing #LabourDoorstep locally here in Caldicot – in Severn Ward. The mission was twofold. First we were continuing our ongoing support for Catherine Fookes in her campaign to become Labour Party MP for Monmouthshire. And secondly, we are close to new elections for the Police and Crime Commissioner. Jane Mudd is the Labour candidate for this position so we were also reminding voters top get out to the ballot box in order to cast thier vote for her. Jayne Byant MS from Newport West is a Labour member of the Senedd. She is in charge of #mentalhealth so I took the opportunity while I was out working with her to have a brief discussion about my End Of Terror justice campaign and situation. She agreed that we should meet up again in the future and have a coffee and discussion on the topic. Also out doing the canvassing work today was a strong contingent from Severnside Labour branch including Cllrs Jill Bond, Francis Crook, Angela Sandles, Tony Easson, Henry Higgins and Helen Chambers. It was good to be out and about in Caldicot and I had some good fun when I met some new Ukrainian refugees based here in Caldicot and I had a long conversation with them in Russian, even though I don’t think they will yet have the right to vote here. Support was strong as it oiften is here in the Caldicot community.
