At the start of the game, Liverpool are getting quite a lot of joy down the right flank. They are linking together some neat, classy little pass-and-moves. Hugo Ekitike has a great chance from the edge of the six yard box but can’t quite connect with the goal.
Ekitike breaks through again and the Leeds defence are scrambling. He just nip sit into Florian Wirtz and how it doesn’t go into the back of the net, God Only Knows! it’s a good start but no goals as of yet. 14 minutes in.
At around the half hour mark, Alisson makes a terrible clearance straight to Ethan Ampadu who has a go but luckily, it falls straight into the arms of the keeper.
It’s half-time and nil-nil. Flashes of brilliance from Liverpool but Leeds too had chances.
Wirtz has an effort from a free kick on 61 minutes but not much so far in the second half, for Liverpool…
A triple change for Liverpool at 65 mins. Milos Kerkez on for Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo on for Florian Wirtz and Alexis Mac Allister on for ,Curtis Jones,.
Half shout for a LFC penalty on 75 minutes. But ref doesn’t give it.
Federico Chiesa is brought on for Connor Bradley. I’m still feeling hopeful about this guy.
The dangerman that I identified in my match preview Dominic Calvert-Lewin does score but luckily the linesman has his flag up and it is given as offside. We are pushing it close today, less than ten minutes left.
Rio Ngumoha completes the changes off the bench, replacing Jeremie Frimpong.
Liverpool are cutting it fine. Leeds are having the better chances in the scond half and we are grimly holding on. Anton Stach has a couple of pops at the goal, his second blasting over the crossbar.
Six minutes of injury time at the end. 6 minutes into injury time and Alisson is right up at the halfway line, passing it around!
Anyway, final whistel blows and Leeds have held us to a seocnd draw this season. The game finishes nil-nil. I think it is a fair result really, reflecting on both sides more or less equal contributions. Next match up…. Fulham Away…
