Labour Party: Getting to Work for Catherine Fooke’s Election Campaign in Monmouthshire

I have spent many years supporting the UK Labour Party. I have always voted for them when possible and I have found over the years the support of both Jessica Morden MP and John Griffiths MS, to be second-to-none, especially when helping with my End Of Terror Mental Health issues.

I thought that it was time to get out and about there and demonstrate some payback and get my boots on the ground and to start working for the Labour Party direct.

Where I live, in Caldicot (in Monmouthshire), we are coming under scrutiny at the next general election – Currently it stands within the Newport East constituency – where Jessica Morden is the Member of Parliament. However, there is to be a bondary change for Caldicot and it is to be encompassed withint the Monmouth or Monmouthshire constituency. Currently, the MP for Monmouth is a Conservative – David Davies MP. He is also a cabinet member of governemnt as the Secretary of State for Wales.

Catherine Fookes is currently a councillor in Monmouth. She has been nominated by the Labour Party to stand as the Labour candidate for Monmouthshire at the next general election. I received some emails, as a Labour Party member, asking for support and help and if I wanted to volunteer to help in Catherine’s election campaign.

So I went out to Chepstow and met up and had some initial training at the Bridges Centre. I met many enthusiastic Chepstow Labour members plus some other volnteers from across Monmouthshire. My current MP, the lovely Jessica Morden was also there and I have been known Jess and have been friends with her for many years. I got to speak to Catherine Fookes and she seeemed a lovely woman, with the right political acument to make it as a good MP, and somebody who I believed I could get on and work with.

The training just explained to us what our role would be out doing #LabourDoorstep – I was told that we would be mentored and advised on the job by more senior, experienced Party memebers when we set out to do it. Anyway, I’m all signed up and expect to be out and about all over Monmouthshire for the foreseeable future, driving forward a Labour Party success both here, locally, and also at a National level in the General Election.
