Catherine Fookes fundraising Curry and Quiz night, Chepstow

Tonight, the Monmouthshire contingent of the Labour Party gathered at the Drill Hall in Chepstow for a fundraising curry and quiz night to support Catherine Fookes‘ campaign to become the Member of Parliament here.

There were a few important local people there, including Baroness Wilcox who is the local representative for the Labour Party in the House of Lords.

Quizmaster, Andy, from Monmouth, is quite a character and he kept us all entertained with his wit. My partner, Nicola and I joined Amy in the quiz and tbh, considering we were perhaps one of the more the youthful sides in action, we came pretty close to winning, mainly thanks to Amy as she was bang on with her political general knowledge.

Ruth Jones, Labour MP for Newport West, gave a speech. I had a quick chat with her and she is very amenable and interesting.

Catherine Fookes thanked us all for attending and gave updates on her campaign and goals. everything is positive in the camp and things are progressing nicely towards the general election.

Oh and btw – the curry was spot on and I had quite a few bevvies too. the Labour Party social events are a great time to relax and to get to know your comrades.
