Today we were out locally in thee neighbouring village of Caerwent here in Monmouthshire, to do #LabourDoorstep to suuport the campaugn of Catherine Fookes to become MP here for the Labour Party. Catherine herself was out with us and also present were Cllrs Francis John Crook and Tony Easson from Severnside Labour. Most of he houses in Caerwent are on an old US Army base and it’s an area that I know well. The terrain is flat and the people are nice up there. It’s quite an isolated village and there are some beautiful roman remains here, well worth seeing if you are a tourist in the area. Caerwent was Venta Silurum (market town of the Silures) a very important settlement in Roman Britain. Catherine Fookes went down well with the voters here in any case.
