Tonight we head to a floodlit Gtech Community Stadium down in the capital to face Brentford, who do have the capacity to disrupt our ‘pass and move’ beautiful game. They don’t play pretty football and they can be bit rough and tough. In spite of this, we have a 100% record against them over past five seasons
Brentford were obviously thrilled by their last game’s 2-0 away result against West Ham, yet they are still struggling to gain points in the league this season.
Liverpool had a nice 5-1 victory against Eintrcht Frankfurt in the Champions League to break the bad run of four defeats on the trot. However, our side this season has still not been able to gel togather properly. Slot is still adapting his new signings to the style and way and team he wants them to be. We are a mould of plasticine, stretching out and our mission to defend the league looks pretty vague at present. We lie four points behind Arsenal at the top, already.
It will be interesting for Liverpool to face off against former club captain, Jordan Henderson, who is the highlight of stars representing Brentford. I, for one, will enjoy watching Hendo play, as long as he doesn’t score, of course…
Apparently Frimpong’s hamstring injury from the other night is pretty serious and he will be out for the foreseeable future. Alexander Isak didn’t travel as he has a minor groin inury. – he is suffering due to a lack of pre-season games at Newcastle due to the transfer saga around him leaving etc. Also, Gravenberch is missing, which could signal danger, as he is so critical in our central midfield.
Wirtz starts again as does Curtis Jones and Ektike will be upfront with Mo Salah getting a starting berth on the right wing. Giorgi Mamardashvili is still between the sticks with Allisson out and our reserve keeper is yet to maintain a clean sheet.
LFC can’t take anything for granted tonight. We need the points and we cannot afford slip-ups. The four point gap can be overcome but we certainly do not need that increasing any more at all. It’s nip and tuck at the top in professional football these days. It all hangs by a thread the gap that separates teams at this level. Good luck Liverpool #ynwa
