PSV have won only once in this season’s Champions League and lie 18th in the overall table. Liverpool are hoping to turn around their own terrible form after yet another league defeat – against Nottingham Forest last weekend – at Anfield.
Arne Slot is feeling the pressure and with us being 11 points behind leaders, Arsenal already, the Premiership is a mountain too high to mount for us this season which makes tonight’s Champions League game that ever much more important as it is a competition where we still have a chance of winning. Our new signings are failing to perform with Florian Wirtz still yet to register a goal and latecomer striker having only managed one thus far this season. Both players don’t make the starting lineup tonight as Wirtz was injured on Tuesday and Isak only makes the bench.
Although PSV are only 18th, over the past ten games in all competitions they have only been beaten once, so they are displaying good form.
Alisson has experienced a recurrence of his hamstring injury so doesn’t make it in goal tonight so our defence is potentially hampered. Hugo Ektike makes a start in attack and to be fair I think that this is the right option as he has looked relatively sharp in a lacklustre side. Dominik Szoboszlai has to again fill in as full back and Curtis Jones makes it into the midfield.
Good luck, lads! #ynwa
Liverpool XI:Â Mamardashvili; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Jones, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo
