Match Preview: Liverpool vs Sunderland (03.12.25)

Liverpool Football Club crest featuring a red background, the Liver bird, and the motto 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Tonight’s game will be poignant for Liverpool FC supporters as the match falls a day before what would have been star striker, Diogo Jota’s 29th birthday so I’m sure that The Kop will be vocal in remembering our fallen hero. Expect Jota to be cheered at 20 minutes into the game.

We won last time out but Sunderland will be no pushover and they sit a point ahead of us and two places higher in the Premiership table. We have not lost to the Black Cats since March 2012.

Andy Robertson replaces Milos Kerkez in defense. This is the only alteration to the starting XI from West Ham United on Sunday. Joe Gomez retains his position at right back and with his experience, the defense seemed a little more stable. It is unfortunate that Mohamed Salah is not starting again although perhaps he could benefit from a bit of a rest.

Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Mac Allister, Gakpo, Robertson, Gravenberch.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Endo, Kerkez, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Ekitike, Nyoni, Ngumoha.

Was our most recent win a false dawn or will be continue to make progress and be victorious in front of the Anfield crowd this evening? Let’s hope for a win #ynwa
