Match Preview: Inter Milan vs Liverpool (09.12.25)

Liverpool Football Club crest featuring a red background, the Liver bird, and the motto 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

All the prematch headlines have been about Mohamed Salah and his discontent at the club. After the 3-3 draw against Leeds on the weekend, Salah gave a controversial interview. At the end of the day, Mo is a great player and has done great service for our club. But, this season his form is bad and he’s not playing well or delivering to his world class capacity. At Liverpool it has gone down badly as no player is bigger than the club and this is a tradition and core Liverpool philosophy. Arne Slot has left him out for tonight’s match and to be fair. I don’t blame him. I hope it is not the last time we have seen Salah in a Liverpool shirt and I truly and genuinely hope that the handbags can be put down and the matter resolved amicably and speedily.

Ahead of tonight’s critical Champions League fixture, Liverpool lie 13th in the standings with nine points from their first five matches. Inter lost just one match on Matchday five so are doing better than us. They sit in fourth place overall. After our woeful performance against PSV it would seem tonight that the Nerazzurri are firm favorites for victory. We sure shall be tested and with key star talisman player Salah not in the side, our work could be cut out.

Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez replace Connor Bradley and Milos Kerkez. Florian Wirtz is on the bench. Alexander Isak and Alexis Mac Allister are in the starting XI with Cody Gakpo ruled out with injury.

Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Szoboszlai, Isak, Mac Allister, Jones, Ekitike, Robertson, Gravenberch.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Kerkez, Wirtz, Bradley, Nyoni, Ngumoha, Lucky.
