Crystal Palace begin the game attacking the Kop end. The game is relatively quiet for the first half hour with Palace’s Will Hughes probably having the best chance with a nice shot on the half hour mark, but it was square at our keeper so was savd easily.
On 40 minutes, just before half-time, Crystal Palace do the inevitable and score a cracking goal. Liverpool’s defence looked pretty lacklustre, with Joe Gomez really proving to be the weakest link. Ismaïla Sarr blasted hit home with his right foot right inside the centre of our penalty box, just totally free to act how he chose.
It was Sarr who furthered our misery again before the whistle could blow – he banged in another quite easily after a nice through ball being put through to him. It is so horrible and frustrating just watching Liverpool’s demise this season. To lose three games in three months against Palace? Honestly…. We have to sort it out and quickly. Half-time 2-0 down.
A few minutes into the second half and again, Sarr, on a hat-trick seems to have all the impetus, but this time his shot was saved as he had a good go from outside the box, hitting it direct at the goalie.
Luckily, it wasn’t to be a hat-rtick for Iasmaila Sarr as he got subsittued at 61 minutes. Thank God to see the back of him lol!
The stats at 75 minutes are that Liverpool have had one shot on target, compared with Crystal Palace’s seven.
A few minutes later and Liverpool end up going from bad to worse with Amara Nallo bringing down Justin Devenny as he moved through on goal and getting a straight red card for his troubles. Down to ten men and looking pretty damned and hopeless. The rot on the Kop is really setting in now.
With just a few minutes left on the clock we play our last card and bring on Trent Koné-Doherty for Rio Ngumoha. We just haven’t bothered to turn up tonight. I know it’s a second string side but they look shocking!
To compelte our suffering, Yéremy Pino gets clear int he box and slips it nicely to the right of the LFC keeper, Woodman, and Palace are leading by three. Pino does a nasty foul a few moments later and gets a yellow card. three minutes injury time and defeat will be complete. Out of the League Cup in the fourth round.
In my eyes, when you play for LFC you shoudl put your heart and soul in every time you set foot on the pitch or even onto the training ground. It’s a magnificent club with probably the best supporters in the world (Carlsberg). The past couple of months the descent has gone straight into chaos. The players and the manager have to take a good, close look at themselves, accept that these results are unacceptable and change back to being a good top side. We are shocking at present and it’s a nightmare to behold. #ynwa
